The Mighty Waikato despite being a beautiful place to live, tends to cause problems for our car’s air-conditioning efficiency. Our beautiful country roads and green gardens, and the dust and leaves wicked off each, once accumulated can act like a blanket over the condenser and radiator in your car. As you can imagine, this diminishes efficiency by insulating the components and making them work harder. At our Auckland branches, we find that this is not nearly as often something we see, instead, we are diagnosing a lot more leaking condensers. We theorise that the proximity to the sea promotes corrosion. Unfortunately, nothing much can be done for Aucklanders, however, if you frequent country roads you can help prevent this blanketing effect by washing your condenser when you wash your car at home. This can be done by thoroughly rinsing the condenser with the garden hose. Be gentle and be sure to turn the engine off! Cleaning condensers is a common practise at CoolCar Hamilton even when fixing unrelated issues as we know how beneficial these things can be.
