The CoolCar staff are the heart and soul of the business and we really couldn't do it without these wonderful people! Fortunately, the staff from CoolCar Hamilton, Henderson and, North Shore are able to move between the 3 branches, when necessary.
RODNEY SMITH
- CEO || HEAD TECH AT COOLCAR HAMILTON
Born and raised in Putaruru, New Zealand, Rodney, and his wife met at 17 and have been together ever since. Together Rodney and his wife, Catherine, established CoolCar Hamilton in the 1990s, after Rodney spent his teenage years apprenticing under engineers and air-conditioning techs. With 30+ years of experience, Rodney has recently taken on ownership of CoolCar Northshore and CoolCar Henderson.
Despite our best efforts to get Rodney off the tools, he will likely be the one to run an evaluation on your vehicle. He understands the importance of discussing the diagnosis, and the customer's options before proceeding with repairs.
If he had the means, Rodney would drop AC and electrical repairs completely, and turn CoolCar Hamilton into a home for his real passion; Hot-Rod construction and customisation. Following suit from the first vehicle he built, see below.
CATHERINE TOCKER
- CEO || FINANCIAL DIRECTOR
Catherine Tocker is the co-director, and financial advisor to CoolCar Hamilton, Northshore, and Henderson. In the past, Catherine worked as a microbiology scientist at Waikato Hospital but traded her position to run the office at Rodney's start-up.
Catherine now runs the entire company and has over 25 years of experience in the automotive industry and bookkeeping, and has held a position on the VASA Australia board of trustees for 10 years.
